School Resource Officer
North Ogden Police Department has a school resource officer assigned to North Ogden Junior High. The officer’s primary function at the school is to protect the welfare of children and faculty. He also assists at the three elementary schools within the city.
This officer is available to students at the school, and works to build a rapport with the students, building bridges where the students feel comfortable talking to the police if they have been victimized, or if they have knowledge of a crime which has been or is about to be committed. The officer is also a valuable student resource if they have concerns about safety and other issues. This officer works closely with students, faculty, staff, and administrators at the school to make sure that safety concerns are addressed.
The school resource officer also supervises the city’s crossing guard staff, teaches D.A.R.E. drug awareness classes, and is heavily involved in community policing and the neighborhood watch program.
