Winter Parking
The City Council has adopted a Winter Parking Ordinance. This ordinance will be in effect between the hours of midnight and 6:00 a.m. from November 15 through March 15 each year. During this time, no on-street parking is allowed. Also, no parking is allowed on the street any time of day or night during a snowstorm and 24 hours after a snowstorm.
With your cooperation, our streets will be much safer and the city's maintenance personnel will get their work done. Snowplowing will be done without the problems that occur when citizens leave their vehicles parked on the street. Please make arrangements for parking of vehicles whenever you have company come to visit. We want all to have a pleasant experience while in North Ogden.
Ordinance No. 2003-10
SECTION 2: A new Section 10.16.050 is hereby added to the North Ogden Municipal Code that shall read as follows:
10.16.050 Winter Parking Regulations
A. As used in this section, the following terms shall have the following meanings:
- "Vehicle" shall mean any device, means, or mechanism in or on which persons, goods or other items of personal property may be carried from one place to another. "Vehicle" includes, but is not limited to, automobiles, trucks, trailers of all kinds, motorcycles, off-highway vehicles, motor homes, recreation vehicles, and tractors.
- "Park", "parked" and "parking" shall mean the standing of a vehicle, whether occupied or not, otherwise than temporarily for the purpose of and while actually engaged in loading or unloading property or passengers.
- "Snow storm" shall mean an event of snowfall that is anticipated to result in accumulations of snow sufficient to necessitate the removal of snow from the public streets and roadways.
B. It is unlawful for the owner of any vehicle to park his or her vehicle, or allow his or her vehicle to be parked, on any public street or roadway in the city between the hours of 12 midnight and 6 a.m. from November 15 through March 15 of each year, except for physicians or emergency vehicles in emergency situations.
C. It is unlawful for the owner of any vehicle to park his or her vehicle, or allow his or her vehicle to be parked, on any public street or roadway in the City during any snow storm or within 24 hours following the cessation of snow after any snow storm.
D. A violation of this section shall be an infraction.
E. Any vehicle found parked in violation of this section shall be deemed a public nuisance and may be removed or towed away by or under the direction of the police department or the department of public works.
